Attitude
This is adapted from one of my church sermon I attended. It's about the POWER OF POSITIVE THINKING & ATTITUDE.
You can have the CHOICE to determine what attitude you want to have toward a thought, a circumstance, you LIFE.
LIFE is all about 10% WHAT happens to us and 90% HOW we respond to it. Attitude is that string that keeps us going or cripples our process.
Many times we we focus on the misfortunes in our life, rhather that concentrating on what we have at hand and make the best out of it.
The greatest waste of energy = The energy wasted fighting the INEVITABLE!
4 Things to do with POSITIVE ATTITUDE
1) Positive attitudes turns OBSTACLES into OPPORTUNITIES
[Phil 1:12-13]
"Now I (Paul) want you to know, brothers, that what has happened to me has really served to advance the gospel. As a result, it has become clear throughout the whole palace guards and to everyone else that I am in chains for Christ"
Paul was imprisoned and chained because he was a follower of Jesus Christ, but he still looked at the situation optimistically. Instead of resenting, he took this opportunity to shared the gospel with the prison guards, who had to guard him throughout the day. Slowly, the guards were one by one moved and their hearts were touched.
Q: What is the difference between an Obstacle and an Opportunity?
A: Our Attitude towards it.
"Every opportunity has difficulty, every difficulty has opportunity"
2) Positive attitude is CONTAGIOUS
[Phil 1:14]
"Because of my(Paul) chains, most of the brothers in the Lord have been encouraged to speak the Word of God more courageously and fearlessly"
3) Positive attitude doesn't allow the situation to determine one's reaction
[Phil 2:14]
"Do all things without grumbling or disputing"
The more we lament and complain about why we are doing this or why is that happening to us and not others, the more negative energy we accumulate. It will not do us any good nor the people around us. What's worse is, it WILL NOT improve the situation.
On the other hand, the more we take things graciously and do as we are told, the more we look at it positively and thus take it as a chance that God is helping us to learn and grow. We get the things done and we feel happy.
ABILITY is what we are capable of doing.
MOTIVATION determines what we do.
POSITIVE ATTITUDE determins how well we do.
4) Positive Attitude trusts in all situation
[Phil 3:1a]
"Finally, my brothers, rejoice in the Lord!"
[ Phil 4:1, 4-7]
"Therefore, my brothers, you whom I love and long for, my joyand crown, that is how you should stand firm in the Lord, dear friends!
"Rejoice in the Lord always, I will say it again: Rejoice! Let Your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, bit in everything, by prayer and petition. With Thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your heart and your minds in Christ Jesus."
Blame never affirms, it assaults
Blame never restores, it wounds
Blame never solves, it complicates
Blame never unites, it seperates
Blame never smiles, it frowns
Blame never forgives, it rejects
Blame never forgets, it remembers
Blame never builds, it destroys
BLAME = Aggressive way of negative energy
SELF-PITY = Passive way of negative energy
When we are facing self-pity, give our problems to God. He will solve for you. Just leave it to Him.
God is on your side. He will turn all things to positive.
[Acts 16:25]
"But about midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns of praise of God, and the prisoners listening to them."
Despite the fact they are imprisoned, Paul and Silas were still spreading the gospel, sharing with anyone who were there listening. They had no fear nor worries, as they have cast all of them to God. They know He will come for them.
[Acts 16:26-28]
"Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundatios of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everybody's chains came loose. The jailer woke up, and he saw the prison doors open, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself because he thought the prisoners had escaped. But Paul shouted, "Don't harm yourself! We are all here!"
All things can happen, is because of Faith, we have positive attitude. It is because we know that what we do, God will know, hence we are always optimistic.
Life is short. It is not worth to be bogged down with unnecessary worries and fears. In all we do and all that that happen to us, there is a reason behind it. God loves us and He has his reasons to let us go through everything in life.
So, what is your attitude towards your circumstance, your life?
